YouTube data use
Optional YouTube connection
Normal AstruHome account sign-in remains separate from YouTube permissions. A user can optionally choose Connect YouTube when they want channel analytics, an explicit video upload, or an approved title or thumbnail update.
Important: A YouTube connection is not required to create scripts, images, videos, thumbnails, audio, or other assets in AstruHome.
When connected
Features requested by the user
- Discover the authorized YouTube channel
- Read channel and video analytics used by AstruHome dashboards
- Upload a video after the user selects the file, metadata, privacy setting, and presses Upload
- Apply a saved title update after the user chooses to do so
- Apply a saved JPEG or PNG thumbnail after the user chooses to do so
Limits and controls
No automatic channel publishing
- No YouTube scope is requested during normal Google Sign-In
- AstruHome uploads a video only when you explicitly submit the upload form, and it does not delete YouTube videos
- Title and thumbnail changes require an explicit user action
- Users can disconnect and revoke the connection from the Account page
Data handling
Tokens, retention, and deletion
AstruHome stores the access and refresh tokens needed to provide the connected feature. Tokens are associated with the signed-in user's internal owner record and are removed when the user disconnects YouTube or deletes connected Google data.
AstruHome keeps basic account authentication and optional YouTube authorization as separate consent flows.
